A typical room includes an adjustable bed with linens, a chair for visitors, a bedside table, a dresser, a closet, and a bathroom. Each room is individually decorated and has a view of the expansive, park-like grounds. Residents are encouraged to bring in treasured photos and other small items, as well as their favorite quilt or afghan. Smoking is not permitted inside the facility, however there is a sheltered smoking area outside.

In conjunction with physical, occupational, and speech therapies, restorative nursing helps each person regain independence via range of motion exercises and restorative dining. For those residents who need a little help during meals, we provide restorative dining assistance with each meal. This allows residents to participate in mealtimes while receiving the nutritious food and encouragement that often helps them recover their functioning more quickly.

Staff nurses provide clinical assessment, medication administration, wound treatment, assistance with IVs and tracheotomies, dementia care, and palliative end-of-life care. Our nursing staff works closely with each resident’s attending physician(s) to allow prompt intervention as physical conditions may change. Our nursing staff includes RNs, LPNs, and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).

Residents love our homemade foods that include mashed potatoes, “super” chicken, soups, French toast, and delicious breads. We also have a family and friends barbecues during the summer months. Residents are served restaurant style and may choose from a menu of two entrée options, plus salads, soups, and sandwiches for each meal. For a nominal fee, guests may join their resident for a meal at any time. |

We realize that family and resident involvement is the key to a positive experience at MediLodge of Sterling. Our staff works closely with residents and families from admission to discharge, to help each person according to their individual needs. When our residents are ready to discharge, we offer help with discharge planning and making arrangements for obtaining needed adaptive equipment, any medical care needs and therapies.

Attending physicians are generally in our building two or three days per week. Physicians visit our residents and communicate with nursing staff and residents’ families to answer questions and discuss any medical issues. Often our physicians are available after normal working hours and on Saturdays, when it’s more convenient for working families.

MediLodge of Sterling has an in-house beautician that comes once a week on Friday to help all of our residents maintain their hair beauty care!

We have recently set up an Internet Kiosk for those residents who enjoy going on line to read the newspaper or keeping in contact with family and friends via the World Wide Web.

Our residents enjoy getting out of the building, whether it’s to visit a local doctor, or to attend local events, go out for lunch, or just to pick up a few things at the store. We provide a 14-passenger bus to transport them…and they tell us where they’d like to go. Learn more about our outings on the Life at MediLodge page.
