If you’re planning a joint replacement or other orthopedic surgery, we can help with your post-surgical rehabilitation. We encourage you to visit before surgery, to meet our staff, take a tour of the building, therapy department, and your room.
Once you are discharged from the hospital, we can be ready with a rehabilitation plan customized by your doctor and tailored to you. We then work with you to help you achieve your goals for regaining functioning.

Our physical therapists help you increase your strength, reduce pain, and improve your balance and endurance. Patients learn safe lifting and movement techniques, as well as simple exercise routines that can easily be done at home.

MediLodge’s occupational therapists help you to regain independence with your activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding), as well as, your functional mobility skills. Occupational therapists educate and train residents how to relearn or compensate for loss of strength, coordination, balance and endurance. Equipment can be used (such as a sock aid, reacher, or a raised toilet seat) to assist you to become as independent as possible.
Speech therapy includes activities to increase an individual’s recall of important information, organize information and develop strategies to assist with problem solving and planning. Our speech therapists also work closely with our Restorative Dining and kitchen staff to help select foods and textures that are pleasurable to each patient, while maintaining a high level of safety from choking. In addition, speech therapy also diagnoses and treats swallowing disorders, commonly seen within skilled nursing environments. Speech therapist also develop treatment plans to rehabilitate an individual’s ability to express themselves and also to increase their ability to understand information spoken to them.
